1 Implementing Intelligent Traffic Control System for Congestion Control, Ambulance Clearance

Implementing Intelligent Traffic Control System for Congestion Control, Ambulance Clearance, and Stolen Vehicle Detection

This paper presents an intelligent traffic control system to pass emergency vehicles smoothly. Each individual vehicle is equipped with special radio frequency identification (RFID) tag (placed at a strategic location), which makes it impossible to remove or destroy. We use RFID reader, NSK EDK-125-TTL, and PIC16F877A system-on-chip to read the RFID tags attached to the vehicle. It counts number of vehicles that passes on a particular path during a specified duration. It also determines the network congestion, and hence the green light duration for that path. If the RFID-tag-read belongs to the stolen vehicle, then a message is sent using GSM SIM300 to the police control room. In addition, when an ambulance is approaching the junction, it will communicate to the traffic controller in the junction to turn ON the green light. This module uses ZigBee modules on CC2500 and PIC16F877A system-on-chip for wireless communications between the ambulance and traffic controller. The prototype was tested under different combinations of inputs in our wireless communication laboratory and experimental results were found as expected.

7 Radio Frequency Based Navigation and Management System for KUMBH

Radio Frequency Based Navigation and Management System for KUMBH

In country like India, there are lots of pilgrims. These pilgrims gather at pilgrimage to celebrate their festival and sometime form a huge crowd. KUMBH is one of India's very largest fair event at which about 3 to 4 millions of pilgrims gather to worship their god at a time. This fair forms a huge crowd at some places like Nasik, Allahabad (Prayag), Haridwar and Ujjain. In this type of crowd, pilgrim may miss their relatives and friends. After missing it will be more complicated to find their location within the KUMBH pilgrimage premises. If Pilgrims sometimes needs emergency services like medical service then it requires some extra time to manually inform about an emergency to the authority. Pilgrims are from different regions of the country, so they require the proper information and location of the temples, rivers, hotels, hospitals, etc. Which are sometime unknown to them. Solution to these types of problem can be achieved by using technical approach. We are using passive RFID embedded wrist band to track the pilgrim within the KUMBH. Keeping the track of each pilgrim can be useful for locating the pilgrim. Pilgrim can inform about the emergency immediately using the radio frequency band available on his/her hand. Important places can be located using the application in the smart-phone like android attached with OSM (Open Street Map).

8 OCR and RFID enabled vehicle identification and parking allocation system

OCR and RFID enabled vehicle identification and parking allocation system
The available parking management systems require human efforts for recording entries of coming and leaving vehicles from parking in sheets. For huge parking it is difficult to keep track of the information. Use of Radio Frequency Identification known as RFID technology reduces human efforts and Optical Character Recognition known as OCR, enabled system will provide an automated system for parking management. And also it will provide the control over the access of parking space by the use of boom barriers. For huge parking it will be an effective system. Parking can be a commercial one or can be a Very Important Person (VIP) parking. Depending on the usage system can be used. Vehicle cannot be parked in parking if it is not registered. OCR acts as a solution for vehicles which are not registered. To keep track of the happenings in parking cameras are used. Places where automated systems are required, the proposed system is an answer. System combines the two strong technologies RFID and OCR.

9 Optimization of RFID Based Wireless Navigation

Optimization of RFID Based Wireless Navigation
The performance of wheelchair is based on avoidance of obstacles prematurely keeping the time constraint. As the wheelchair moves, the sensory system helps in avoiding the obstacles whereas RFID is used for localization. If the obstacles are permanent, every time sensory system will be used. Hence the optimization will be required to constraint the time taken and the distance travelled used by this sensory system. This paper proposes an algorithm to optimize the path planning with the help of an ant colony optimization. For navigation, path optimization is a critical combinatorial problem. The performance of an algorithm has been evaluated using the simulation approach. The performance is in terms of time taken to reach the destination and distance travelled. When the destination point is assigned the algorithm will evaluate the shortest distance in less time to reach to its destination.

Solving the supermarket shopping route planning problem based on genetic algorithm

Nowadays, the supermarket scale and items increase gradually. Customers will take a long time if they want to buy all things they need. Sometimes customers don't know the location of the goods, or they have to walk a repeated route, which leading to a waste of time, so we need to find the best shopping route. In this paper, we use genetic algorithm to solve this problem for customers. Due to the particularity of this problem, the start and end points of route are fixed, so we need to do some change for operator of GA. This algorithm can calculate a shortest route that isn't repeated and takes the shortest time to help customers shopping quickly. In the process of experiment, we apply it into a shopping route problem with twenty commodities. The results show that this algorithm can find the best solution after certain number of iterations.

Distributed aisle-level scanning approach for RFID shopping systems

The emergence of new wireless technologies opened new opportunities to develop more efficient information systems. RFID is among those technologies, which extended the potential of wireless identification, and represent a potential replacement to old-fashioned identification systems such as the barcode system in retail sales. This paper presents a new RFID-based cost efficient approach for pervasive retail sales. The suggested new system architecture is based on aisle-level scanning and new event management procedures at the level of RFID middleware. It also discusses the impact of deploying such systems in retail stores, and more specifically supermarkets, on the supply chain. The motivation behind such approach is not only reducing the number of RFID readers compared to existing RFID based systems, but providing customers with an interactive shopping experience and fast checkout and bill payment, making this new approach transparent, efficient and cost effective.

In this paper, we proposed an intelligent campus equipment ubiquitous-management system. This RFID-based intelligent ubiquitous-management system use RFID to monitor the status of equipment in real time, and use wire or wireless network to send real-time situation to display on manager's PC or PDA. In addition, the RFID-based intelligent management system will also synchronize with database to record and reserve message. Furthermore, the status will display not only to a single manager but also a number of managers. In order to increase efficiency between Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Database, the system adopts Sql Dependency Object of ADO.NET so that the database changed any situation (eg. Add, Modify, and Delete) could be known immediately and synchronized with manager's PC or PDA.In order to obtain a feasible solution to this NP-Complete problem efficiently, we apply genetic algorithm to enhance the efficiency of finding optimum solution for equipment utilization. 17 Design and Implementation of High Security Mobile Payment System

Secure mobile payment is the most important link for a mobile phone to realize full payment. At the present stage, there are many researches about security of mobile information in the country. Those researches are mainly based on Windows Mobile, BREW or software of J2ME, and limited to specific areas. On the aspect of the hardware cryptograph, they focus on the security of computer information.

There is no mature product in the mobile area basing on hardware cryptograph. Considering this situation, we refer to and compare varieties of the present payment patterns, using the JMX micro-core service as the bus structure, introducing safe technologies to design starting from the hardware unit to get security module independently. In this way, we realize the security, completeness, confidentiality, authenticity and non-repudiation of the data of mobile payment.

21 RFID based indoor location determination for elderly tracking

There are many video camera based systems proposed for tracking elderly or impaired people. When privacy become a concern, researchers start to search for alternative ways. Many of them, studied on RFID systems to be able to make estimations related to the tracked person. Existing RFID location determination systems cannot provide acceptable results because of the multipath fading and shadowing effects. These systems, which are based on tracking the tag worn by the person, does not operate consistently enough in indoor environments like houses. Human body, which is majorly formed by water, causes tags to be shadowed and hence make the systems not able to receive signal from these tags as the person passes nearby. The method we propose makes location determination using shadowing effect which appears to be a problem for other systems.

22 Speech recognition based wireless automation of home loads

The design of this project helps in providing a fool proof solution for physically challenged to control their home appliances by giving voice commands through personal computer in a wireless environment. When automating a home load not available in the visible range, Fault identification system in this design helps the user to ensure that their home appliances had gone exactly ON or OFF or undergone FAULT by getting the status from load end, unlike the other design that gets the status at user end which may give a false indication, when power supply is not available for the particular load or when load get open circuited (due to wire discontinuity or open fuse condition).

During user screen navigation and controlling home appliances voice output of the current screen information and status of the automated appliances enables visually impaired person to use the system to control their home appliances.Navigation of the screen by giving voice commands enables paralyzed person and person who lost their hands in an unfortunate accident to control their home loads along with normal person. For achieving wireless environment low cost zigbee is used. To provide security based authentication RFID is used. Each home load will be having two commands ON and OFF commands, Automation of 20 loads such as mixer, grinder, TV, refrigerator, fan, light, AC etc..., has been tested by giving 40 voice commands through personal computer. When user creates his own profile and automates the load speech recognition accuracy of more than 90% is achieved. Other people who were allowed to automate the load by the user can use user profile and achieve a speech recognition accuracy of 75% in the same personal computer.

Our design has many advantages, including being easy to use by the aged, low cost and wireless connectivity. It allows the early detection of high blood pressure and provides a doctor with a means for observing a patient's health over a long period. The guiding system provides video guide features for the measuring steps, reminds the patient of the measurement results and makes suggestions. We propose here a new design to determine the BPM posture in order to increase the BPM reliability.

24 A ZigBee-based miner localization system

This paper introduces a new kind of mine personnel localization monitoring system. It is a kind of wireless sensor network based on ZigBee wireless communication technology. The system can fast achieve the miners' real-time and accurate localization information about where the miners are underground mine tunnels and solve the positioning shortcomings of the traditional system such as RFID. The system mainly contains the ground monitoring host, industrial optical fiber Ethernet and underground mine wireless sensor network made up of gateway, reference nodes acting as routers and moving localization nodes.

The underground miners are carried moving localization node sensor which is able to communicate with the neighbourhood reference nodes. Through the received signal strength indicator value (RSSI), the localization node takes advantage of its built-in location engine to calculate its localization coordinate based on location algorithm, and then via ZigBee network and industrial optical fiber Ethernet, transfer the coordinate information to ground monitoring host. Management personnel can monitor the localization of underground miners through the host at any time, and also manage underground miner's attendance information as well as disaster relief.
